Bikes are a wonderful invention for many reasons, spanning from leisurely rides to necessary transportation.  Bikes are fun to ride, they can get you from place to place, and they can also help you to exercise. When riding a bike at night or in low light, it is always a smart idea to have a bike light to help make you more visible and to help you see the road ahead with ease. When was the First Bike Light Invented?

Bikes have been around for years and they have only grown in popularity and in overall use over time. The first bike light was invented in 1901 and was called Mercury Arc Lamps. These lamps were invented years after the lightbulb was invented and they were invented by a man named Peter Cooper Hewitt. This type of lamp uses mercury vapor to create light. These lamps were useful in the early 1900s as many people used bicycles as a means of transportation and of getting around crowded city streets. Of course, during the day being visible is not that big of an issue, but after dark, it becomes more and more dangerous to be out on your bike.
