Considering a Bathroom Reno? Here Are Some Suggestions

Are you thinking of doing some work in your bathroom? If so, what upgrades are you leaning toward?

Americans spent a combined tally of $624 billion on home improvement projects from 2019 to 2021. Perhaps you were among them. But as a new year has dawned, you’ll want to consider what projects can add value and functionality to your biggest investment…your home.

You don’t have to focus on the entire home in a single project. That would be too costly and take too long. If you’re interested in concentrating on your bathroom, read on for some suggestions.

Bidet

While bidets are popular on continents like Asia, South America, and Europe, they’re not nearly as well known in North America. But that’s changing as homeowners and businesses increasingly see the benefits of using bidets rather than traditional toilets.

In case you’re unfamiliar with them, bidets are devices you can install on your toilets or set up as stand-alone devices. They employ warm running water to clean you up after you use the bathroom.

So, instead of using toilet paper to clean yourself up, a bidet uses running water. The latter does a better job of cleaning up your genitals and rectum without needing any toilet paper. It not only does a better job, but also is more sanitary since there’s no chance of fecal matter getting on your hands and contaminating anything you thereafter touch.

Flooring

Another worthy bathroom project involves flooring. Because the square footage of the average bathroom is much smaller than the square footage of most other rooms, a bathroom flooring project can be especially cost-effective. You can get tiles made of different materials and in different sizes. Such a project can transform your bathroom and make it more elegant and aesthetically pleasing. It’s definitely the sort of project worth contemplating.

Vanity

Is the vanity in your bathroom ancient? You can replace a vanity that’s the worse for wear fairly inexpensively. Ensure you take accurate measurements so that you get the perfect fit. If you’re a DIYer with the right tools and experience, it’s the sort of project you might want to do yourself. Otherwise, you can find a handyman to install a vanity relatively easily and inexpensively.

Bathtub/Shower

If you want to transform your bathroom, it’s worth replacing the bathtub or shower. That’s especially the case if the existing unit is at a point where it’s detracting from the space. If you pursue such a project, you might want to consider different placement options. In other words, you don’t necessarily have to install a new one where the old one had been. A plumber or contractor will be able to help you achieve the goal you have for your bathroom.

Windows

Quality windows can last a long time. But at some point, it’s time to explore replacement windows. Casement windows are a suitable choice for bathrooms. Since they open outward rather than inward, they’re a good selection for small spaces and narrow walls. If your bathroom windows are on their last legs, they’re not offering the energy-efficiency properties you need. Replacement windows are more energy efficient. You can get double- or triple-pane options, and you can get inert gas fills between the panes of glass for optimal energy efficiency.

Paint

Paint is an option that can make a big impact for a relatively small investment. Finding quality paint suitable for bathrooms, spend a little time painting it, and you’ll transform the space. It’s one way you can change up a room without spending a lot of money.

These ideas will get you started if you’re thinking about sprucing up your bathroom. Decide what you’re looking for in a bathroom, set your budget, and get started!
